Service Engineer I

WE Day, Sat &Sun, 12 8am-8pm  
AND Days M, T,  8 hrs 8am-5pm  
     
Must have TS/SCI with current/active polygraph to be considered for the positions.
Service Engineer I • Strong college hire or 1-2 years of experience in service operations
• Demonstrated experience diagnosing/debugging faults in complex services or distributed systems
• Working knowledge of enterprise network gear including routers, switches, and load balancers.
• Working knowledge of enterprise routing protocols and IP subnetting
• Experience using common diagnostic tools like Netmon, WinDBG and Wireshark
• Experience with PowerShell, SQL, and Python scripting
• Able to diagnose and mitigate faults
• Able to identify and drive recovery levers with feature teams
• Able to communicate effectively through written and oral English
• Able to interact with external customers and partners on behalf of Microsoft
• Ability to perform work under continuous deadline pressure
• Hold active TS/SCI security clearance with a full-scope polygraph fully adjudicated by the designated agency
• Demonstrated experience diagnosing/debugging faults in complex services or distributed systems

Infrastructure

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Application of technical principles, theories, and concepts typically obtained from a prolonged course of study.
Develops solutions to technical problems of limited scope. 
Applies practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained. 
May make recommendations for improving processes.
Contributes to completion of technical tasks.
Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.
Work is performed under general supervision. Work requires independently determining course of action but is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy.
Contacts are primarily with immediate work team and management.
Occasional interaction with other sections or groups.
